 'Setting free the Golden Carp' 250 x 500 cm oil on linen Sometimes a red, orange or yellow mutation occurs in the normally dull grey carp. People outside the imperial family in China were forbidden to keep Carp (goldfish), of the gold (yellow) variety, yellow being the imperial color. When the gold fish is released back into the wild, the natural grey/silver returns within three generations, replacing the Imperial Gold.  |
